HK Girl, OPI The Living Daylights and more...

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I wanted to share my last manicure and a top coat I am absolutely in love with! Since I started blogging I feel like I've entered a very special world, and I have gotten to experience so many great products I didn't know existed!

Lots of ladies I chat with online, rave about HK Girl Fast Drying & Super Shiny Clear Top Coat, I had to try it and oh boy! I'm so glad I did, this top coat is super fast drying, shiny and amazing!!! I used 2 coats on this mani, it looks great and it feels super smooth, I really put it to the test with this crazy glitter!!! The only con I could find is that the smell is a bit strong but it goes away as soon as the top coat is dry, which happens crazy fast!

This is what the regular sized bottle looks like:
You can purchase it here for less than $7!!! I will definitely keep using HK Girl :) I believe there is a bigger bottle available as well.

Here are the polishes I used for this mani:
China Glaze: Kalahari Kiss, Exotic Encounters and Desert Sun (from the Safari Collection)
OPI: The Living Daylights (from the Skyfall/James Bond Collection)
HK Girl Fast Drying & Super Shiny Clear Top Coat

I picked the base colors inspired on the glitter colors in "The Living Daylights". It's a beautiful clear glitter with gtold, silver, turquoise and orange glitter!!! Ahhhh!!! I love it!!! Easy to apply and no digging required!!!
Two coats of each color before the glitter!
 Another view:
Sunlight, 2 coats of The Living Daylights and 2 coats of HK Girl
I'm in love with this glitter!!!!

 Exotic Encounters close up:
 Desert Sun close up:
I love all the combos but Kalahari Kiss is my favorite out of the three!
What do you think? Have you tried HK Girl, do you like it? What do you think about The Living Daylights? What other base colors would you pair it up with?

Oh Blue Glitter!!! A quick comparison :)

Well happy Friday to you all! One of my dear nail friends asked me to do a side by side comparison between Orly Flash Glam FX Spazmatic and Jordana Glitters Cosmic, she also asked to show any other blue glitters that might be similar... well I checked my stash and ooops! I have 6 blue glitters! Are you surprised? Well thankfully for my addiction collection, they are all different, see below:
From L to R:
Jordana Glitters Cosmic
Orly Flash Glam FX Spazmatic

Sinful Colors Nail Junkie

As you can see none of them are dupes, here is how I would describe each of them, and I am still pretty new and unfamiliar with the "polish lingo":
  • Jordana Glitters Cosmic: clear base with hexagonal green, turquoise and silver glitter, also has smaller turquoise glitter, not sure if they are "micro glitter"
  • Orly Flash Glam FX Spazmatic: clear base with hexagonal turquoise glitter, almost the same color as the turquoise ones in "Cosmic", it also has what looks to me like micro glitter, in the bottle it looks as if they are a darker blue but when applied they are very subtle. This polish seems to separate/glitter settles a bit which can be annoying but rolling it a couple times gets rid of that issue.
  • OPI Going Gonzo': clear base, hexagonal silver glitter, small light blue glitter.
  • OPI Last Friday Night: clear base, small multicolored hexagonal glitter, the color seems to look different depending on the angle. Mine settles, like "Spazmatic", but rolling helps.
  • Ulta Indigo-Go Girl: On the darker side, clear base, dark blue, a bit on gthe purple side small hexagonal glitter with smaller glitter on the same shade.
  • Sinful Colors Nail Junkie: blue/green base, small hexagonal multicolored glitter.
In case there are any doubts left, a closer look of Jordana Glitters Cosmic and Orly Flash Glam FX Spazmatic :

Jordana Glitters Cosmic (Left) and Orly Flash Glam FX Spazmatic (Right). In this picture you can also see a bit of the dark blue microglitter in Spazmatic!
Oh yeah, I decided to take pictures outside today, and of course there is barely any sun! Ugh! Hope you enjoyed this comparison, if you want my opinion, while I love all these glitters, if I had to pick one it would be Jordana Glitters Cosmic, because I like how the green, silver and turquoise glitters look together, it was also the easiest one to work with, looks great over black too! (You can see my post here where I wore it over black). Jordana Glitters, at least in my area are sold at Kmart for about $2 a piece and they are having buy one get one 50% off until tomorrow 10/06/2012 :)

It's a sparkly night! Jordana Glitters, tokidoki and Flash Glam FX

Hello everyone! I recently picked up a little set at Sally's, it came with 3 skinny Orly bottles: Top 2 Bottom, Liquid Vinyl and Space Cadet.
I had been wanting to try Liquid Vinyl for a while as I see it featured with the new Orly Flash Glam FX glitters, while it was a bit thick, it definitely did not disappoint, look at this beauty! (2 coats)
I also had tons of glitters I had been wanting to try, I have 10 fingers so I went with 10 glitters over Liquid Vinyl. On my left hand I used: (from Left to Right) Jordana Glitters Sequins, tokidoki SANDy, Jordana Glitters Cosmic, tokidoki Donutella and Jordana Glitters Copper Blaze.
I have to show you these cute stickers/decals that came with the tokidoki bottles!

For my right hand I went with the 5 Orly Flash Glam FX glitters I have! From Left to Right: Sashay My Way, Spazmatic, Be Brave, Monster Mash and Right Amount of Evil.

Easy Halloween mani! Nail decals review! English & Español

Well hello! I know we are still in September but time flies by and I had the awesome opportunity to test/review nail decals by Make it Stick, you can find them on Etsy or Facebook

Hola!

The owner/creator of this company belongs to one of the nail polish lover communities/groups I belong to (yes, there is such thing!) and offered to send some of her new decals for review, I was not paid for this review and this post contains my honest opinion  about these products :)

Here is what I received: instructions, transfer tape, Halloween decals (3 designs, sorry, I had already cut some out to use when I took this picture). I also received lips/kisses decals (I requested these as I have something in mind for them, you will see that on a future post).

Here are all the polishes I used for this mani:
Aqui estan todos los esmaltes que use para esta manicure:

I wanted to pick base colors that wouldn't overpower the decals, I went with Orly Decades of Dysfunction and butter LONDON Knackered.

First I put 3 coats of Orly Decades of Dysfunction on my thumb and my ring finger, I used 4 coats of Knackered as it is quite sheer.

Vista cercana:

Applying the decals was fairly easy, I did not use the transfer tape provided, I used pointy tweezers to peel off the decal and applied it to each nail as follows:
Aplicar las calcomanias fue relativamente facil, no use la cinta de transferencia que me enviaron, lo que use fueron pinzas punteagudas para despegar la calcomania del papel y las coloque como ven:
As you can see I didn't quite get the right placement of the decal on my ring finger :(

I added butter LONDON Pillar Box Red to the edge of said nail, and look, problem solved!

This is my left hand, with 2 coats of OPI Top Coat, I did not need to add red polish to the edge because I knew how to place the decal this time. April recommends using nail scissors to trim the edges, I'm sure I have some but couldn't find them, I used cuticle nippers and they worked just fine.

What do you think of this mani? I love how you can turn a simple mani into something so cool by just using decals. I would definitely recommend these decals as they were easy to work with and the quality of the detail is superb! Thank you Make it Stick!

Gracias Make it Stick!
